Meet Alejandro...

Name: Alejandro
Company: Bertelsmann, Inc.
Location: New York, NY

I am from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (2nd biggest city).

I am very interested in military history, media, and organizational communication.

I am convinced that Chivas de Guadalajara is the best Mexican soccer team.

For me life is like music… it has a start and an ending, some parts are accompanied but you also have solos, and it is beautiful.

    Heavy Metal is my law.

Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?
I am currently a Senior at the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Guadalajara, Mexico. My major is Communication Sciences.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?
I have been involved in a variety of student leadership activities and associations, last year I was elected President of our Students Association.
In 2006, I worked for the Walt Disney World Resort as an operations cast member.

What are your current roles and responsibilities?
I am the "audiovisual contents intern". My responsibilities include producing and editing videos, creating animated contents, and designing digital graphics.

Describe a typical day at your job:
I start my day learning and I end it learning.

What attracted you to your company and position? What is your favorite thing about your job?
The people who I work with are my favorite part of this experience. The information in some of the social networks was what attracted me to the company.

What has been your most memorable moment (so far) in your job?
Every lunchtime... it is like a family moment.

If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be?
Hannibal Barca, Carthaginian military commander. I would ask him how to cross the Alps using an elephant as a vehicle.

    If I were a cartoon character, I would be…
Master Splinter from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (A.K.A. Hamato Yoshi).

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company?
You need to have the will to perform with excellence. Keep a team attitude at all times.

Have you had the opportunity to travel as part of your job?
    Not yet.

Do you feel you have a good understanding of Bertelsmann and its corporate culture?
Yes, all that information is online.

My favorite book, movie, and artist are…
Book: Poesia Trashumante by Alina Midori.
    Movie: The Phantom Tollbooth (1970)
    Artist: Iron Maiden
