Meet Kevin in Archiving...

Name:

Kevin

Company:

SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT

Title:

Archiving Executive - Business Affairs

Location:

United Kingdom

My life in a nutshell:

Worked for myself for several years. I ran a retail unisex shop for 3 years and also ran a specialist music mail order company for 5 years before deciding to seek a job in the music industry.

My main hobby is football. I have been Treasurer, Player/Manager, Physio and Kit Washer of a local Sunday Football Team for the last 10 years. We’ve traveled all over Europe, played in several international competitions.

"Never ask, 'Why me and not you?' or 'Why you and not me?' Trust Your Destiny."

My Education...

Four ‘O’ Levels Grade ‘C’ at College in English, Accounts, Commerce & History. BTEC National in Business & Finance, Association of Accounting Technicians Chartered Institute Of Marketing.

My current roles and responsibilities...

Responsible for day-to-day running of the Archiving Department (Tape & Document Storage). Running business plan, monitoring the vault at Western Avenue & Kemble. Implementing strategy concerning preservation, digitization and artwork. Responsible for ensuring archiving services are provided efficiently to internal users. Delivering regular project status reports. Responsible for ensuring that all BMG UK’s archived master tapes details are entered on the worldwide RIS database system.

My most memorable moment at BMG was...

When I attended a BMG Showcase during the 1998 World Cup. England narrowly lost to Argentina on penalties.

If I could take a year off, I would...

Travel the world and write a book about my family history.

My favorite spot in the world...

Jamaica. I love the glorious morning sunrises and the beautiful sunsets. Jamaica presents a magnificent kaleidoscope of color and beauty that has made the island, in my opinion, the most precious jewel in the Caribbean. I find the people humorous, warm and welcoming. Musical events are many and varied in Jamaica, from jazz and gospel to reggae and even oldies. The food is fresh and varied and a must is the national dish Ackee & Saltfish.

Qualities I admire most in a person...

Honesty & Integrity. Entrepreneurs - People who make something out of nothing.

If I were a cartoon character, I would be...

Daredevil. He is similar to Spider Man in that he lives in the same town, swings round skyscrapers and has amazing abilities. Matt Murdock aka Daredevil goes through trying times to keep his legal practice. Daredevil doesn't have the boyish wit and humor of Spiderman but is instead darker and more given to vengeance. The battles daredevil loses in the courtroom are finished at night in darkened warehouses and streets. In Daredevil, we have a hero who has a "disability" which is in truth, a super ability. That he can't "see" is his gift; because in sight's place he gained his radar-sense, but he's also capable of fighting in the dark, in smoke, fog, etc.

My favorite book, movie and artist are...

The Celestine Prophecy
Spartacus
DMX
